The Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition (ISSC) is held annually in Rockford, Illinois and hosted by the Rockford Park District. This coming year's competition will be held January 25-28, 2012 in Sinnissippi Park. Teams from around the state will compete for the right to represent Illinois in the U.S. Nationals Snow Sculpting Competition in 2013. High schools from northern Illinois will also compete in the Rockford Area High School Snow Sculpting Competion, January 26-28. As many as 70,000 visitors will view these massive works of snow art this year.
Public Viewing
Sinnissippi Park is open to the public for sculpture viewing while weather permits. (We wish they never melted!) Viewing hours are daily from sunrise until 11:00 pm. There is no admission fee, but donations are welcome. You may drive or walk through the park. Limited parking is available.
